My friend sent me a link for a free almond butter, just pay 1.95 for shipping. So, I did. When I did that, there was no mention of me signing up for any type of membership what so ever. I then realized that it was a membership and so I looked on their site and nothing really seemed much cheaper than iHerb or other sites so I cancelled it. I received an email from the company saying that they extended my free trial period for another month so that I would have 2 months free. They said reply back if you do not want to take advantage. I replied back saying no, just cancel. They sent another email saying they would give me a 6 month 29.95 membership and if I didn't want it, email back. So again, I email back declining and just asked them again to cancel my membership and that I didn't want any more offers. Again, an email saying they will offer me a 3 month 19.95 membership, and again email back declining. I did just that and then finally she said that they cancelled my membership and I wouldn't be charged. After reading reviews, I am betting any money that they still charge my account 60 dollars sometime soon, so I am definitely still going to watch out for it. Just a hassle and they do not listen to their customers.
I came across Thrive Market on facebook. A advertisement pooped up and I became very interested. I did some research on the company and wasn't sold just yet. I liked the idea of Thrive but i wanted to make sure i got my money worth. I do a lot of my food shopping at Trader Joes but find that they do not carrier a lot of the ingredients that I use and need.
I'm a vegan and I like to cook and eat as healthy as i can. Many recipes and ingredients that i use do not come cheap. I compared the prices on Thrive with Amazon and a few other "healthy Markets". Thrive offered the best rates of many items i use. With the 30 day free trial i figured why not.
I order my package and couldn't wait to get it! I was a little nervous because i read a few reviews that some of the packaging was messy, broken, or even open. (Not cool when you order a bag of flour) However, my package came in very organized and secure. I ordered 16 items from Thrive Market. Everything came in one box with a cute little note.
I plan on buying a few more things from Thrive with the 30 day Free trail. If my 2nd and 3rd package comes like my 1st, than i will differently become a member!

Like most others on here, I made an order from Thrive Market without apparently seeing the fine print that I was signing up for a trial" membership." When i realized it, contacted them 4 times stating clearly I wanted to cancel, but they only kept offering more time in my trial and would not cancel it. I have now had to go to my credit card company to try to block any membership charges. We all have way better things to do with our time than to be harassed and abused by shady business practices like this. If you are somehow reading this BEFORE ordering from Thrive, then please DO NOT give these deceitful, manipulative people your credit card number.
I ordered a "free" product from them and paid $1.95 shipping. I had to sign up for the trial membership in order to receive the item, but after reading that I had 30 days to cancel the membership, I figured I would go ahead and order the product. Even though I canceled my membership three weeks before the trial ended, my bank account was debited the fee anyway. To make matters worse, I never received the product! When I emailed them to complain about both, I was told that it would take 5 to 7 business days to see my refund and the shipping price of $1.95 was refunded to me as the item was never shipped. So I never received the product, and I was charged the full membership fee when I canceled in plenty of time. My only two experiences with this company, and both of them ended up badlu.
Thank you for your comments. I will not order from this company as I was suspicious about giving my credit card details to a company I was not familiar with.
thank you for comments I will not order
Hi Illio! Much like Costco, Netflix, or Sam's Club, we require a membership fee to have access to our wholesale prices. We offer a free 30-day trial for every new member at Thrive Market to give you a chance to experience Thrive savings firsthand before you commit to an annual membership. Your free trial starts with your first Thrive purchase and will last a full month with full membership benefits. If at any point during that time, you decide you don’t want to be a Thrive member, you can cancel. After the trial, if not cancelled, we charge the annual fee for our services, as noted in the policy on the checkout page, as well as on our website: https://thrivemarket.com/how-it-works
Because it is important to us that the natural products that we offer are affordable and accessible to all, we may offer an alternative membership option to accommodate a trial member. This personalized cancellation process is important to us as we continue to improve our service. That being said, it is not our intention to keep anyone who is not interested in shopping with us, or feels they do not support our social mission and values. You can contact membership services at 866-419-2174 and they’d be happy to cancel and refund your unused membership.
I made a special point to cancel my trial membership a full week ahead of time. I expected to click on "cancel" and that would be the end of it. Oh, no! It said that someone would contact me. That was upsetting, and when I did hear from them, it was an offer to extend my trial membership. I asked again to cancel. Then I received an offer to reduce the price of a yearlong membership. This is no way to do business, and I will never shop with them again! I will be watching my credit card statement carefully because I believe that they are an unscrupulous company. Beware!
Thank you Nancy! That is exactly why I was looking at reviews before joining. I wanted to know if I was automatically enrolled when I entered my email and if it was easy to un-enroll. You helped answer that!!
Same situation. I've insisted 3 times that they cancel, and they are still trying to get me on the phone and haven't cancelled it. I told them I was disgusted by their business approach, and they still act as though they will somehow win me over. No means no.
Me too! They refuse to let me cancel! Wish I'd never ordered anything from these idiots!

Thrive appealed to me because I live on an island with no grocery stores. I signed up and chose to pay the membership fee since it was so conveient for me to receive food in the mail. Their prices are better than the local off island stores by a lot, and It's not hard to get up to the $49 free shipping. I do have several complaints however:
1.) If you leave a negative review on a product, they will not publish it. This makes me feel like I cannot trust the product reviews.
2.) If something arrives damaged they will not refund your money. They give you credit and maybe a 10% off coupon. This is annoying because I want the product I ordered and now I have to either reorder and pay shipping or spend another $49!
3.) Shipping is extremely slow. I've had things take almost two weeks to get to me. It starts making them not so convienent... Usually my husband will go to town and buy groceries in between when I order and when it actually comes.
I might renew my subscription next year or try someone else....
Sounds like you work for the company. GO GET A REAL JOB, SHILL!
Hi Megan! Thank you for your continued support.
All product reviews need to be approved before being posted on the site to avoid mishaps, such as foul language or content that has nothing to do with the actual product. We do not selectively choose only positive reviews.
Yes, our initial offer for damaged items is store credit. Of course we can provide a refund if you do not prefer the credit. Just let us know when you contact us.
All orders ship within 24 to 72 hours of when they are placed. Delivery then takes around 3-5 business days. We ship via UPS, and they do not provide shipping on the weekends.
We hope that you've been enjoying your products and the savings. We would love to have you with us next year!

Be careful if you fall for an promotional offer for which you give your credit card number for the shipping. I did not notice (perhaps my fault, but I'm usually pretty good about noticing such things) that I was signing up for a trial membership and would be dunned $60 at the end of the trial period. They DID send an email announcing that the trial membership was about to end, but when I went on the website, there was no way to cancel the membership. I had to find a FAQ and then call. Not easy. Not good business practice, to my mind. Beyond that, it's incredibly expensive for this retiree.
I cannot unsubscribe, the page goes to a Page Not Found. The help@ email address bounces back as I'm not a member. The contact form only works if you have a user name - I don't. I only got as far as leaving my email, before I worked out they only deliver within the US. Sending a message through Facebook did get an answer, pls send us a screenshot. Try it out yourself you lazy lot. I've wasted enough time on them.
No one available to talk to at their number. They hang up on you and they BLOCKED my email!!!!
Thrive Market will charge you for a membership or half-priced membership no matter how many times you try to cancel. They always tell everyone that they did not receive their emails cancelling the half-priced membership. This is what they are becoming known for. I wonder how many people are out there being charged and they have no idea. I think this is what thrive Market THRIVES for.
Signed up thinking the prices would be lower but in fact Amazon is still cheaper, and Whole Foods if on sale is cheaper. Many of the products I want are not on there. Shipping is very slow. They just want your $60 membership fee.

Thanks for the link, I'll add mine to them.
PEOPLE, USE THE LINK PROVIDED BY FRED. THANK YOU!
The worst place to buy food online. Total scam.
I saw a link that said free coconut oil with the charge of shipping and handling. OK, so I get that in the mail right? No where did I sign up for a membership of this business. I am VERY displeased and VERY unsettled with the fact that I'm on disability and I buy this coconut oil and A MONTH AND A HALF LATER, I get an EMAIL on a FRIDAY that states, "thanks for becoming a member" that next day they take out 52 dollars leaving me with nothing to pay my cell phone bill OR electric bill. My mom had told me a week ago to write them about it, stating I do not want a membership because they did the SAME thing to her, only when she said she didn't sign up for it nor want it, they said "what if we took it down to thirty dollars?" ...uhm, she said she didn't want it...so why would she want it at 30$?? SHE DOESN'T WANT IT! AND neither do I because I simply can NOT afford it. Whatever business they think they are conducting SUCKS. That the worst way to get business. Its stealing money, and I will be suggesting people do NOT go to them. Its a scam, and now I'm in the HOLE big time. I don't have enough in my account now that when I get charged, there will also be a bounce in my checking account. SUPER upset and discouraged. My anxiety got so high I threw up bile over it. I know TMI but...it's so wrong and disgusting that they think they can do that. Ill be doing all I can to get the money back as well as RIGHTING THEIR WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Read EVERYTHING you agree to. You agreed to the trial, and it said somewhere along the way that you will be charged an ongoing membership if you don't cancel before your trial is up. You agreed to that. I saw it clearly when I was going through the sign up process for my free trial.
It clearly says before your final purchase that a yearly fee will be in affective 30 days after your purchase, which in my case I will renew bc they are amazing :-) sorry if you missed the small memo :-( the product is way worth the annual fee ????????
And forgot to mention the free Large avocado oil they gave me ??????????????????
Unfortunately as soon as you buy something you automatically sign up for the membership. You have to always read everything before you buy from a new place. I HATE this site, believe me, but that part is on their page.
GET A REAL JOB JESSICA! YOUR SCAM IS UP!
I always use Swansonvitamins.com and then I saw their add Thrive Market online and I said let me give them a try they and they had a free one month no membership required to order . My first order the shampoo I ordered was broken and messed up all my order and I called them they said they will give me a refund card to order again and I asked can re send me my order they said no you have to order again and I lost the free shipping on it because now my order is less than $50 .
Ok then I really didn't order again and two days ago I saw they charged my account $59.98 and I called what is this charge they said your Thrive membership and I said I don't want it and I told them I still haven't used the $25 refund money and they said in order for you to use that you have get the membership of $59.98. I just lost my $25 because I said no to membership.
Very bad please do not use this company.
I was about to make a purchase on this site but decided to read the reviews since I had never heard about this company before. Thanks for all the posted reviews.
I changed my mind about shopping here.
To those who posted, Thanks , and I hope the Attorney General does take action against this company.
I wish I would have done what you did lol. Good for you!
I just saw the two guys that started Thrive on CBS This Morning and was interested in trying this company but after all the negative reviews, I think I'll pass! Thanks for the heads up, I'll stick with Amazon or one of the local markets!
They will take your membership and refuse to refund whether you want it or not. Sad.
This is happening to everyone!
Just happened to me!! They offer a free product but are not very clear on the fact that the FREE product will cost you $60.00 membership!
I went to Biltmore Mansion in NC. ,drank some spice mix with apple cider and loved it. This Co. sells similar for a little less and sends it. The product is not worth it. The powder does not mix well even if you heat up the cider to a boil.
They asked me to join the membership, I said NO and told them to stop sending me daily E-Mails.
My checking account only 28 days later showed a withdrawal of $ 59.95. I did not want a membership, never used the Co before and will not again. The junk mail enough was frustrating let alone the not good product. How dare a Co take money out of an account without telling you. How dare a Co even keep your private information when you specifically told them to stop all comunication.
BUYER BE WHERE.
Call: 1-866-419-2174, Tell them you did not want to join and refund your $ 59.95 ASAP. They will, it takes 24 to 48 hours to see it off your account.
if they do not, file a claim with your bank. I told my bank about what they did to me and They are ready for me to go forward with my claim if I don't receive my money within a week.
I'm currently in the long and frustrating process of trying to cancel my membership before the trial ends. I submitted my cancelation on the FAQ page, which is ever so *conveniently* hard to find. They obviously deliberately make it hard to figure out where to go to cancel. It doesn't even say in the reminder email (letting you know your trial has 5 days left) what to do if you want to cancel. It basically implies you're here to stay! "Your credit card will be charged $59.xx on ___ date. Welcome to Thrive Market." The shady little pricks! After submitting the request to "consider" to cancel my membership, it said they'll "be in touch" within 24-48 hours. -__- The next thing I'm going to do is email them and call them. And then I'm going to get on my Card Guard app with my credit union (America First) and turn my card off for right now. Fortunately my bank has this option, to put holds on your cards when you don't want anyone to charge them. The bad news is, I can't use my card for anything until I know Thrive has permanently deleted my card info. I'm a college student and I had no idea that it wouldn't be worth it to sign up for Thrive. I can't afford to consistently shop there to try to make up for the membership fee. The prices aren't even competitive, and I can't afford to buy huge orders to get free shipping. The whole "mission" thing sounds like a load of crap now, looking back on it I was just a sucker who fell prey to their bad business tactics. I thought it was cool, but honestly, do they REALLY help families in need? Who can even afford to pay $59 or $49 EVERY TIME they order just for free shipping? Needy families can't use this site either! And a savvy shopper on a budget could find the same or similar products for cheaper elsewhere.
Today I'm being charged $99 by Amazon because I totally forgot to end my trial membership in time. But you know what? I'm totally A-OK with it because Amazon is a stellar, fan-freaking-tastic company, and their trial was actually WORTH IT. Amazon doesn't try to force you into it. They send you an email about whether or not you want to stay. Finding where to cancel your prime membership or trial is easy. They don't hide it. It's in pain site under your account settings, as it should be. And I bet they wouldn't send me numerous emails asking me to stay for a discount. It would just be a done deal! Thrive, you suck!
Yes they are rip offs
If you have ever had an internet membership with anything you would know to read the fine print before you join. I sent an email about a product I didn't like and they got back to me the next day with a coupon.
I clearly saw it in the FAQ page, one of the items listed.
I placed an order on a free trial membership. I canceled immediately the same day and received an email stating the membership was cancled. However, they continued to send 7 more emails lowering the price and asking if I would stay. Each time I answered "no".
The box of food, salt lamps and essential oils were left out in the rain for 8 hours by front door. When I attempted to pick up the box, everything fell through. The salt lamps tumbled down my steps breaking into pieces. The essential oils broke open all over. My food was in soggy boxes and I had a mess all over my front steps and it was still pouring rain!
I called to get a refund and met with some much harassment. I was told that they would send me a gift card to use in the store but it would activate another membership and could not be canceled. I declined the gift card and asked for a refund. I was told I could not have a refund. I spoke with a manager who finally agreed. Then, a week later I was billed $59.95 membership fee. I have tried to call customer service but there is never anyone available. I have sent numerous emails. Finally I had to file a dispute with my credit card company. What a major pain in my *%&. This is not a company you want to order from. They are crooked and do not respond. Just go to Whole Foods
I Received notification that my card would not be charged on Feb. 4th- Was warned that if I do order anything (I ordered coconut oil for trial membership
for $1.95) or do a trial membership again (in the future) that their policy is that once ANYTHING is purchased you automatically will be charged the $59.95.
This is facts folks. Keep it in mind. I was lucky I guess to find a kind hearted
soul with Thrive. My credit card statement reflects no charge from them.
So far so good. Bear in mind again, no matter what the trial membership
says the reality is ANY PURCHASE OF ANYTHING during trail memb.=
automatic $59.95. Good luck to those who
are struggling with cancelling
If your order was left out in the rain how in the world is that their fault???????
Seems to me the carrier was to blame.
I agree with Susan. My courier will put packages in plastic bag if it is raining. You should have not opened the package, called the courier to come and examine the package as they would be the ones responsible for reimbursing you fo ryour loss.
You guys must have had bad issues, but I was easily able to order my products and cancel with easy as soon as I did within three days. I'm not lying. They are respective individual and this was all done through email. I don't know what service you guys had. They listen well and fully understand your situation and help you at your bestest. Even if you cancel your account you still receive your orders.
I respect this organic company and I hope they are able to further their company. Whatever problems was the lack of communication but now they are much better and readily there .
This is a ripoff company
I agree
Honey, If you want to see my emails and their illegal charges on my account. i will gladly show you. It's not just this page. There are many many many many others. I have been looking aaaalll around. They are getting a very bad reputation for their stealing.
Because of all I read on this website I was prepared to carefully cancel my trial membership ahead of time. I wrote and did not receive a response so I wrote again. I was asked why I wanted to cancel. I replied to that and 5 days later was charged the monthly membership. After more than 30 minutes on the phone I finally got it refunded! It looks like the strategy is to have an email address that "doesn't work" so they claim they didn't get your email to cancel; or they really have a computer problem. The person I spoke to claims that my emails (2) about cancellation did not get to them even though they went to their email address and did not bounce, and they knew that I requested a cancellation.
I think this is a crooked strategy and please don't get involved, it is not worth it at all! I was left feeling like there was no intention to stop what they are doing. The customer service people say the same thing over and over again.
They are thieves
They do this to EVERYONE. and I mean EVERYONE.
We received a gift card for Christmas for Thrive Market products, but discovered when we tried to use the gift card that we could not make a purchase without signing up--with a credit card--for the "free" trial membership. No way to use the gift card without a membership. And canceling the membership requires a phone call--you cannot cancel on their website. And though they advertised free shipping on orders over $49.00, that offer didn't apply to our gift card and trial membership, so we were charged for shipping and handling. If you lose track of the trial period, a month later, Thrive will charge $59.00 to your credit card for a year-long membership. We don't eat enough of the kinds of products on their site to make a membership worthwhile, so we just wanted a chance to use our gift card. (We prefer access to fresh organic produce, cheese, and meats.) Thrive also refused to offer a refund on the gift card to the folks who gave it to us.
They its a total scam. All the same BS happening to me! Ugh
I'm dealing with the exact same situation. I checked my credit card today and they've charged me $29.95 after I cancelled the trial membership by email 3 times, with no acknowledgement of the cancellation, just more offers to extend the trial. I just called their customer service and after holding for about 5 minutes a recorded message comes on telling me to try emailing them with my concerns and to THRIVE ON!! Are these people serious? I'm so pissed. I'll try to update when I get my refund. Because I WILL get my refund!!
Just happened to me also, call and report it to your credit card company. I never signed up either
Pretty much what happened to me! Still trying to get a refund. If I dont have it in a couple days Im reporting to the BBB and or anyone else I can think of.
