About Plaid Cow Society
Plaid Cow Society is a grass-fed meat delivery service that connects consumers directly to domestic US ranches.  This process cuts out a lot of the middleman services that mainstream grocery stores have to go through.

The result is fresher meat that is more sustainably processed and is better for the environment.

Products and Ingredients:

Plaid Cow Society meat is:
  • Hormone Free
  • Antibiotic Free
  • Never Frozen
  • Contains no added salt
  • GrassFed
  • USDA Inspected
  • Made in the USA
The company makes a concerted effort to ensure the quality of their meats.  Their animals are grass fed and grass finished which produces a healthier meat with higher nutritional value.  They are also committed to transparency and educating their consumers on the harms of factory farmed meat and what they do differently.

How Does it Work?

Plaid Cow Society customers can sign up for either a Beef/Chicken Box or only Beef Box.  The shipment will contain a variety of cuts of meat at around 6-7 pounds and averaging between 12-16 meals.

You will also get detailed cooking instructions which are helpful if you receive a cut that you are not familiar with.  The company does try to avoid food waste so you will get a wide range of cuts that use the entire animal.

An example of a box could be: 2 Ground Beef Bricks, 2 Tri Tip, 2 Sets of Chicken Tenders, 2 Sets of Whole Wings, 2 Ribeyes.

You can cancel at any time you want without incurring any extra fees or you can pause your subscription service if you would like to skip a month.

Cost:

Beef and Chicken Box - $119 with free shipping.
Beef Box - $129 with free shipping.

New customers also receive 30% of their first order.

Customer Service:

You can use their live chat feature to talk with a representative if you have any questions or issues.  The company's mailing address is: P.O. Box 8337, Calabasas, CA 91372.  You can cancel your account or make changes to orders simply logging into your account 7 days before shipment.

Online Reviews/Complaints:

There are a number of subscription review sites that have posted their reviews of Plaid Cow Society.  In general they were all fans of the service and commented on how well the meat cooked and tasted.  While many of these are sponsored reviews they claim to give unbiased opinions.

Some people do point out that while the meat is of high quality it comes at a higher cost.  However if you do factor in the fact that it is grass-fed meat and shipped never frozen the higher cost makes sense.

Competitors and Alternatives:

There are more and more companies offering these types of services and now even many ranches offer to sell directly to consumers.  You can search for local options and even go in on a shared purchases of an entire animal.

Some other popular subscription services offering similar products include Butcher Box, Primal Pastures, and US Wellness Meats.

Where to Buy?

You can sign up for Plaid Cow Society directly at their website.

Pay for nothing

I had read about this company - the reviews were good but now that I look at them they were paid with meat to give the reviews. I should've noticed.
I did the 4 people plan when they offered it at 50% off. That was on March 3rd, 2017. Today is March 15, 2017 and I'm still waiting. After I was charged I waited to receive my shipment - or a notification that it was sent - or a something....but then I got charged again. Full price. What?!
So I called. Oh yeah they'll need to talk to their "big wigs" (as she called them) to find out why I hadn't received anything but as far as the charge that just came through there's nothing she could do about it (I told her forget it - I don't want anything now since I'm being billed for nothing). She explained that they would contact me by phone and I could discuss the charge with them. No phone call. No email No NOTHING.
Maybe I should have contacted them about getting free meat to give them a good review
