Organic Gemini is a new company specializing in all things TigerNut.  They have turned this relatively unheard of vegetable into a variety of products that meet the needs of those eating Paleo or Gluten Free.

 

As with most small health companies Organic Gemini was founded after the owner experienced amazing health results from a raw, organic, Non-GMO, gluten/dairy-free diet.  One of the key ingredients on this journey was TigerNut and it has now become the centerpiece of the company’s products.

TigerNut also known as chufa is a root vegetable originating from North Africa and the Mediterranean.  It is an ancient food that goes back thousands of years, with one study estimating that it made up to 80% of our paleo ancestors’ diets.

 

It also has historic uses in the cosmetic industry as a skincare ingredient and is also commonly used in ayurvedic practice as a digestive aid.

 

It has a slightly sweet, nutty flavour and can be used in a variety of ways.

TigerNut is high in fiber in the form of Resistant Starch, a prebiotic that helps our bodies develop probiotics.

Organic Gemini has amazing reviews online with many food bloggers from the Paleo and dairy free movements loving the Horchata.  The only mentioned downside was the higher price point of the items.

There are other companies that sell TigerNut online however at this time Organic Gemini is the only one with the USDA organic certification.
