About Habit Personalized Nutrition
Habit’s nutrition test and app determines what your body craves at a cellular level and tells you the ideal ratio of cabs, fat, and protein you should eat. Habit’s chefs will then cook customized nutritional meals that are delivered to you based on your test results.

How it Works:

The first step is to take an at-home nutrition test kit to receive a report about your unique biology. The information includes a breakdown of your blood and genetic indicators, body metrics, and an in-depth look at how your body responds to food.

The kit contains the following components:

Drinking The Habit Challenge™ Shake tests how your body handles carbs, fats, and protein. It is a metabolic challenge beverage that is nutritionally equivalent to a large breakfast.

Take three blood samples over a 120-minute period before and after you drink The Habit Challenge™ Shake

A tape measure will get a precise core measurement and collect three DNA samples with the cheek swabs

The test results will reveal the following details:
  • The ideal ratio of carbs, fat, and protein you should eat
  • Recommendations for key nutrients like vitamin D and omega 3s
  • Your predisposition to sensitivities such as having trouble processing lactose, caffeine or sodium
Your personalized nutrition plan can easily be accessed online so you can see what your ideal plate looks like and have the option of having customized meals delivered to your door.

Habit looks at over 60 indicators to have a good understanding of what your body craves. The company partners with some of the most distinguished experts in the field of nutrition and system biology to make sure that each test result, metric and recommendation is backed by significant scientific evidence. The European Food Safety Authority, the FDA, and the American Heart Association recognize many of these relationships.

Habit’s chefs will craft fresh and high-quality meals with wholesome ingredients that suit your unique nutritional needs. The meals are always fresh, never frozen, and delivered in a ready-to-eat sustainable package one to three times a week depending on the plan you choose. The box is recyclable and the compostable package that holds the meals are non-toxic and reusable.

The meals can be customized for several common food preferences such as vegetarian or gluten free. Every meal also matches your Habit Type, or your ideal ratio of protein, fats, and carbs. For example, one meal may be 33% protein, 45% carbs, and 22% fat.

Habit uses integrates seasonal ingredients, wild-caught fish, and meat free of antiibiotics and hormones.

Cost:

The price of the nutrition test kit is $299.00.

For the meal delivery service, each breakfast is $7.99 while each lunch and dinner meal is $13.50.

Customer Service:

You can contact Habit on their web form (https://habit.com/how-it-works/#contact-us) and follow company updates on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Online Reviews/Complaints:

There are no published reviews from customers because the product launched in January 2017. Habit is still waiting to see customers’ health results and meal-buying habits. The company has received some positive press, but scientists have different positions on the effectiveness of nutritional testing products.

Some scientists feel that more personalized nutrition does have health benefits while other scientists are skeptical about companies offering health tests to healthy people because many studies found that screening people who have no complaints or symptoms isn’t an effective way to improve health.

Competitors and Alternatives:

There are an increasing number of companies and technology that are being developed to provide personalized nutrition to people. Other personalized nutrition apps include DNAFit, DayTwo, and Pathway Genomics.

Where to Buy?

You can buy the kit and subscribe to the meal plans on Habit’s website (https://habit.com/register_kit).

Awful Experience Bad Customer Service

I submitted my test to habit on September 21, 2017. By late November I still did not receive my results. After contacting Habit and waiting several days for them to respond, I was told that they lost my saliva test and needed to have me redo it. It would have been nice if they would have contacted me instead of me having to hunt my results down. So after waiting for another week for a test and then mailing it in, I still had no results by late December. Then I saw that they refunded my money and I thought that was the right thing to do. However, after contacting them because I still did not get my results in late December, they informed me that the refund was done by MISTAKE and they wanted me to reissue a credit card for my results. That's where I tapped out, they have no idea what they are doing and that is horrible customer service. After drinking that God awful shake and pricking my fingers and submitting 2 tests, I have nothing. Would not recommend Habit. How many mistakes can 1 company make and they didn't even attempt to make it right! UGH!

Thank you for making the decision easier for me. I’ll not be trying this.
